| Longford Rockers were a Rocker gang in the 60s in Longford
near Coventry ,England, just down the road from the Triumph factory in Meriden.
We were acquainted with a couple of surviving members back in the 80s,though Longford Rockers no longer
existed then, having become Coventry Pagans, Hells Angels. They gave us their blessing to carry on using the name,
and thats what weve done.Why?
Because Rockers are a moment in the fight for liberation, and we want to always commemorate that, and carry it on.
Theyre part of the tradition of rebellion and revolt against oppressors and conquerors
that finds its expression in punk,in rock and roll, and in pop music and pop culture in general.
Ok,its controlled, and marketed, but not quite as controlled as the manipulators would like it to be
-it remains always capable of connecting to our souls and giving us glimpses of undiscovered territory,
new horizons, new tactics,it always retains the potential to upset the apple cart.
So weve moved on from the leather jackets and jeans we were doing in the 80s,but we see legwarmers and hotpants
as part of the same thing, being alive and happy and refusing to bow the knee,or believe the bullshit.
